On today’s Soft Power Radio we are in conversation with Lisa Lee. Lisa works in housing advocacy, substance recovery, harm reduction, community outreach, mutual aid and more. We talk about the limits of prevalent models of care for people experiencing homelessness and about innovative models – such as Housing First approaches – that are proving to be much more effective in actually lifting people up and getting them back on their feet. What do we need to rethink about stigma, about trauma, about the conditions we put on compassion, and about our limited understanding of what someone living on the street wants and needs from us, their neighbors, and from the city and community they are very much a part of?
