What it do do 🥁 Today on Colloquial Sounds NOON to 2PM, DJ Atey Ate is running a National Drummers Day special. @sososicwidit has been behind the kit for like 25 years and built this show from the perspective of a drummer. It is all about drum centric tracks, repetition repetition repetition, and drums that just sound cool. The dooms, the caks, the pshh.
From Claude Coleman Jr flipping old Ween drum machine songs into live drummer brain, to Brooks Wackerman with Suicidal Tendencies, Meg White keeping it primitive and perfect, Billy Cobham and John Theodore on the drummer Mount Rushmore, Danny Carey in full trip hop mode, Jimmy Chamberlin writing whole pop songs on the kit, Blondie, Bill Stevenson, Mitch Mitchell, Leo Morris and more.
He is also shouting out the home team. 🥁 Reno drum lifers and crusher heads who came up through this town and keep the pulse going, including his own work in @spitting___image 🖤
Tune in Noon to 2pm for Colloquial Sounds on 97.7FM in Reno and at KWNKradio.org worldwide. If you see a drummer today, buy them a pierogi, an empanada, some sort of handheld food. Drummers can always use a little hot pocket.
