As part of our Black History Month special series on Soft Power Radio honoring the local community, we are in conversation with Jasmine Plummer of Carson City. At age 11, Jasmine was the first ever female quarterback of a Pop Warner football team. Her story is an inspiration to female athletes everywhere – and it inspired a Hollywood movie starring Keke Palmer and Ice Cube – The Longshots. We’ll talk about the central role sports have played in Jasmine’s life and the power of sports in general, particularly for young people. Jasmine is still tearing up the field – she plays in the WFA (Women’s Football Alliance) for the Nevada Storm. Come cheer them on April 30th at Reno High; more info at nevadastormfootball.com.
