On this episode of Soft Power Radio, we speak with Engageante Jackson, Ne’Jae Jackson, and Jerome Silas – organizers with Black Lives Matter Carson City and the Power and Liberation Movement. This past Saturday, August 8th, Engageante, Na’Jea and Jerome organized and led a protest-turned-march (they marched out of safety concerns, as they had been surrounded by an armed mob) in Minden in response to the Douglas County Sheriff’s publicly threatening to refuse police protection to anyone in support of BLM. He made good on his threat, as a very small group of peaceful protestors were violently antagonized, assaulted and chased out of town by armed, hateful, and aggressive locals. The police were busy fist-bumping an enormous crowd – easily over 1000 – of so-called counter protestors and completely neglected their duty to protect citizens of and visitors to their ‘welcoming’ community. They discuss Reno City Councils proposed police budget and the agenda for the city council meeting on July 22nd, 2020. At the end of the episode continue the conversation on the 31st (2020) Special Session of the Nevada Legislature.
